Early Learning Center

Our Mission

Our Programs

At The Village Learning Center, we prioritize hands-on STEM learning to foster curiosity and critical thinking in children. Our curriculum is designed to promote developmental milestones while emphasizing social skills, manners, and character development. We believe in nurturing independence and confidence through engaging activities and personalized attention.

Our Curriculum

At The Village Learning Center, we emphasize hands-on STEM learning to ignite curiosity and foster critical thinking skills in children. Our engaging activities are designed to promote problem-solving and creativity, preparing children for future academic success.

Our Staff

We have dedicated staff that are committed to nurturing and guiding your child's development from an infant to school age.  When it comes to teachers, our standards are as high as yours. Each of our teachers are trained in the following areas:

  • First Aid and CPR
  • developmental stages of children
  • age-appropriate activities
  • positive guidance and discipline of children
  • fostering children's self-esteem
  • supervision and safety practices
  • positive interaction with children
  • preventing and controlling the spread of communicable diseases

We check references and conduct thorough background checks based on state and/or local licensing requirements. This includes fingerprinting and appropriate criminal background checks, as well as verification of educational credentials.

We do this to protect the most valuable part of our school: your child.  Learning experiences are based on the unique needs and interests of children in their class. We follow the state requirements for teacher-child ratio.

Safe & Secure Environment

Our Safety Promise

Security and safety are top on our list. The front entry door remains locked at all times. Parents are given an entry code to access the building. There is also a release button the parents must push in order to get out of the building. If anyone other than the parents/guardians pick up, a photo ID must be provided.

Safety and Health

Every child is an explorer, so our classroom environments allow them to feel safe and free to explore and discover. In our home-like surroundings, children learn with engaging materials, while using their bodies, senses, and emerging problem-solving skills.

Cleanliness is vital, so we take significant precautions to prevent the spread of germs.

In addition to daily cleaning, we use hospital grade disinfectant and a professional fogging system to sanitize and disinfect the building and all contents regularly.

  • Bedding and toys in the infant room are cleaned daily.
  • All spaces that children come in contact with are regularly disinfected.
  • All the children’s toys are disinfected on a regular basis.

Nutritious Meals Daily

Breakfast, lunch, and snack are provided daily for a small additional fee. All of the meals are homemade and cooked at the center.  We do not use a catering or food prep company.  We offer a variety of healthy meals on a monthly rotation.

Our Owner's Story

Hello! My name is Melissa Knight. I am a proud parent of two very active boys that both started and attended all of their early childhood years at The Village Learning Center. My husband and I bought the daycare and took over in October of 2016. My oldest son had already been attending the center for 3 years when we took over. Owning a daycare was something I knew I wanted to do since working in them when I was younger. I started working in daycare when I was 16 years old. It was my first job and something I knew I wanted to do since I was a little girl. I always loved babies and little kids. I worked in daycare the rest of my high school and college days. I graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree and then University of St. Thomas with a Masters in Educational Leadership. After 1 year of substitute teaching, I became a 4th grade Elementary teacher. I taught for 3 years and then moved into Administration. I was an Elementary principal for 9 years and then resigned to be more involved at The Village Learning Center and available for my boy’s. I have been very blessed and fortunate to have these years’ experience and given the opportunity that I did at a young age. Education, especially during the early childhood ages, is very important to me. In addition to loving, caring, and nurturing your babies. I am very involved and present at the center so I look forward to seeing you and your little ones around.
